3rd International Conference on Engineering Facilities
Maintainance & Management Technologies

Welcome to the 3rd International Conference on Engineering Facilities
Maintenance & Management Technologies

BIUST, Palapye - Botswana

May 25 - May 27, 2020

On behalf of the local organising committee (LoC) and the Botswana International University of Science & Technology (BIUST), the hosting institution, it is my great pleasure to welcome you to Palapye, Botswana, for the 3rd International Conference on Engineering Facilities Maintenance & Management Technologies (EFM2T20). The idea to organise the EFM2T20 was born from the concern that in many African countries, maintenance is not usually given sufficient prominence during design, construction and delivery of projects but it is a major aspect of all infrastructures. Plant reliability and down time have been unsatisfactory, and the situation now provides practitioners, academics, and policy makers with fresh opportunities for collaboration to improve the practice in our continent. Effective maintenance practice must be planned and introduced pragmatically. Maintenance culture must also be developed and nurtured in the work place.

The EFM2T20 conference will foster discussions and inspire participants from a wide array of themes to initiate collaborations within and across the disciplines for the advancement of facilities maintenance & management. Furthermore, EFM2T20 will showcase various thematic sessions which highlight significant scientific advances and the impact of modern and African traditional technologies employed in the maintenance and management of engineering facilities. All participants are welcome to attend the plenaries and oral presentations. You are also encouraged to interact with the other conference participants during the poster sessions and our social activities. The posters will be displayed throughout the conference duration, allowing you multiple opportunities to have in-depth discussions on topics of your interest.

Our eternal gratitude goes to all BIUST’s management and staff, the Palapye community, sponsors, conference attendees, session chairs, keynote and plenary speakers for your invaluable contribution in developing this very exciting conference programme. The LoC and the International Scientific Committee (ISC) will make every possible effort in ensuring that your participation in EFM2T20 will be scientifically rewarding and a pleasurable experience of the rich wildlife conservation and cultural history of Botswana.

 Yours sincerely,

 Prof. Eyitayo Olatunde Olakanmi
